Mobility Week and European Car-Free Day

Transport that that Unites

In celebration of Mobility Week, which begins on September 16 and concludes on Monday, September 22, with European Car-Free Day, the Generalitat is offering free transport on the Metrovalencia, Alicante TRAM, Castelló TRAM, and Metrobús services.

As part of the planned initiatives, the Generalitat is launching a campaign under the slogan “Transport that Unites” inviting all citizens to use public transport.

Mobility Week is always a good time to remember the work the Generalitat does to provide a quality, sustainable, and accessible public transport service in the Valencian Community.

The Generalitat’s goal is to promote mobility habits for all throughout the year, and not just this week, and to remind everyone that public transport is a completely safe means of transport, facilitating urban and intercity travel.

“Transport that unites” joins the campaign launched by the European Union, with the slogan “Mobility for all,” and emphasizes the more human side of public transport.

Mobility after the Floods

This year, it’s important to keep in mind that the effects of the floods and the storm have also marked a turning point for mobility. The flooding and its devastating effects on the public transport network have demonstrated that mobility is a fundamental part of people’s daily lives.

In Valencia, the metro has been operating again throughout its entire network since June 27, taking a very important step in restoring mobility in many of the affected municipalities.

Promoting the Use of Public Transport

In order to promote the use of public transport, the Generalitat maintains free service for children up to 14 years of age, as well as for residents of the municipalities most affected by the floods last October.

For other users, a general 40% reduction in the prices of season tickets and multi-ride passes is offered, while those under 31 can continue to access discounts of up to 50% on monthly passes.
